July 26, 2020: Containment measures renewed in Algeria

Containment measures were renewed this Sunday for a period of 15 days in Algeria, which has been fighting since the end of June against the outbreak of COVID-19, the Prime Minister’s services announced in a press release.
In detail, the government is extending home confinement for two weeks from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. in 29 wilayas. The second measure concerns the renewal for two weeks also of the ban on road traffic, including private vehicles, from and to these 29 wilayas.

July 26, 2020: Fight against COVID-19 in Algiers: several shops and markets closed in 24 hours

Faced with the continued deterioration of the health situation in Algiers, the closure of shops and markets in Algiers, favorable places to the spread of COVID-19, is accelerating.
This Sunday, July 26, the wilaya announced the closure of no less than 376 shops in the district of Bab el Oued for non-compliance with preventive measures, as well as, as a preventive measure, the large popular Saïd-Touati market located in the same neighborhood.

July 25, 2020: Post-COVID-19 economic recovery plan unveiled

Minister Aymen Benabderrahmane announced Algeria’s plan for economic recovery. “Social transfers this year amounted to 1797 billion dinars”. They are: “124 billion dinars injected into the education sector. 198 billion are intended to support (subsidize) milk and wheat. 82 billion dinars for electricity, gas and water. 289 billion dinars for retirees. 340 billion dinars to the health sector. 166 billion dinars for the needy and those with specific needs. 446 billion dinars for social insurance ”.

July 25, 2020: Meeting of the scientific committee on Sunday

The scientific committee for monitoring the coronavirus epidemic in Algeria will meet on Sunday July 26 under the chairmanship of the Minister of Health, Abderrahmane Benbouzid to assess the health situation linked to COVID-19 in the country.
According to Dr. Bekkat Berkani, member of the scientific committee, during this periodic meeting, the causes of the rebound in the number of contaminations and the measures to be taken to protect the lives of citizens will be identified.

The coronavirus “is circulating significantly” in Algeria, attests the head of the infectious diseases department of the EPH of Boufarik, Dr Mohamed Yousfi.
“If it weren’t for this heavy circulation, we wouldn’t have had this increase in positive cases per day. A phenomenon that affects more and more wilayas. The epidemic situation in Algeria is “serious and active”, warns Professor Ryad Mehyaoui, member of the scientific committee in charge of monitoring the coronavirus epidemic.
