List of new anti-COVID-19 measures

The Ministries of Health, Interior and Local Affairs announced, this Sunday, September 27, 2020, the implementation of several measures to control the spread of the coronavirus. These measures come into force as of today, Monday, September 28.

They will be accompanied by a monitoring which consists in reinforcing the operations of control of the application of the sanitary protocol in the spaces and places of assembly. The sanction foreseen is the immediate closure of any space that does not respect the sanitary protocol.

Coffee and tea rooms

Prohibition of the hookah (Chicha)
Requirement to use single-use containers
Applying social distancing
Constantly ventilate spaces
Restaurants, bars and nightclubs

Superstores and weekly markets

Impose the wearing of the mask
Applying social distancing
Gatherings

Prohibition of any large-scale cultural, political, sports and scientific gatherings (conferences, fairs, seminars, etc.).
Reduction in the number of visitors to parks, recreation areas, theaters and cinemas
Reduction in the number of guests for wedding parties (not to exceed 30% of the space’s capacity) and funeral ceremonies
Workplaces

Reinforcement of health prevention teams in the workplace and granting them all the necessary prerogatives to apply the health protocol.
Public Transportation

Wearing a mask is mandatory on public and private public transportation. Failure to comply with this obligation is subject to a penalty
Clusters

Impose general containment for two weeks
Closing large gathering places
Prohibit exit from these areas
Wearing a mask is mandatory even in open spaces
Carry out cleaning and sterilization campaigns

September 22, 2020: Back to school postponed due to COVID-19

The communication officer at the regional directorate of education, Hedi Bousafa, said that the start of the school year has been postponed for the students of Tanbib village of the delegation of North Kebili. The start of the school year has been scheduled for September 28, 2020. According to the same source, this decision was taken because of fears of the spread of coronavirus in the region. The regional authorities in consultation with the Ministry of Education have decided to postpone this decision.
