An epidemiological investigation and monitoring unit has been set up

Professor Mohamed Belhocine was named on Wednesday president of the operational unit in charge of investigation and monitoring of epidemiological investigations as part of the measures taken by the government to address the risks of spread of COVID-19.

The role of the Epidemiological Investigation and Monitoring Unit highlighted
For the Prime Minister, the missions assigned to the epidemiological investigation and monitoring unit consist in “strengthening the means and mechanisms of the epidemiological investigation teams and ensuring a rapid response by the investigation and epidemiological investigation teams, while ensuring that epidemiological investigations are meticulously carried out for each case and contact subjects, in each region, even though the number of infections is increasing, because it is absolutely necessary to stop the spread of the pandemic, to collect and update the epidemiological information obtained through epidemiological surveys and to use it in real time through the creation of a computerized system that guarantees daily access to data, which makes it possible to update the epidemiological map at the national level on a daily basis”.
“The strengthening of investigation and investigation operations will certainly contribute to reduce the number of cases of contamination, through the identification of sources of contamination and the taking of anticipated measures based on the results of the investigation,” he added, adding that “it will be a question of guaranteeing additional financial resources, and that the State will take care to guarantee, from a special budget earmarked for this purpose, the acquisition of the necessary quantities of tests and the expansion of the national network of analysis laboratories to all wilayas”.
