The Eid Al Adha prayer will be done at home this year.

Following the example of Eid Al Fitr, Muslims in Morocco will have to perform the Eid Al Adha prayer at home this year.

The Ministry of Habous and Islamic Affairs has just announced via a press release that the faithful are not allowed to perform the prayer of the day of sacrifice in the Msalla and mosques, but that it is possible to do it at home.

This measure, says the ministry, is aimed at preserving the health of citizens against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Stations in Zone 2: The ONCF makes the purchase of tickets conditional on a travel authorization.

Following the authorities’ decisions, the National Railways Office (ONCF) now makes the purchase of tickets for journeys departing from stations in Zone 2 conditional on travel authorisations.

In a press release published on Friday 24 July, the ONCF “reminds its customers that, following the authorities’ decisions, travel from stations located in cities classified in Zone 2, namely Tangier, Marrakech and Kenitra, is subject to the obligation to have a valid authorization issued by the competent authorities”.

As a result, says the Agency, “the issue of travel tickets and access to trains will only be permitted to passengers with these authorisations”.

The Wali of Tangier prohibits travel outside the city on the occasion of Eid Al Adha

The Wali of Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima, Mohamed Mhidia informed companies in the industrial zone of Tangier of the formal ban on travel outside the city on the occasion of Eid Al Adha.

He has formally prohibited the delivery by companies of travel permits in favour of their staff for the said period (company managers are responsible for ensuring compliance with this ban),” said the president of the Association of the Industrial Zone of Tangier (AZIT) Ammar Chammaa, in a statement, addressed to members.

Following the meeting held in the Wilaya, Wednesday afternoon, the Wali of the region said that “it was also requested to strengthen awareness on the importance of wearing masks, as well as on the respect of distancing”.

“Informative videos, stickers and other communication materials should be widely distributed by all associations, organizations and businesses,” the statement continued, adding that the Wali informed that “anyone not wearing a mask will be punished“.

The same source announces that free distribution of masks will be provided by Amendis (before access to the agencies) to ALSA buses (before access to the agencies) for any person not wearing a mask.

Companies are also asked to offer their workers masks to cover the needs of their families,” the press release concludes.
